Acas has published new guidance to help both employers and workers manage the impact of the menopause at work. The guidance covers:

  • Impact of the menopause on a worker, including what it is and what the symptoms can be
  • Supporting a worker through the menopause, including making sure health and safety checks are suitable, developing a policy, training managers and carefully managing sickness absence or a dip in performance
  • How the employer and worker can together find solutions, including knowing how to talk about the menopause and agreeing changes at work
  • Menopause and the law, including the risks of sex, disability or age discrimination
  • Managing colleagues of a worker being supported through the menopause
  • Business reasons why an employer should handle the menopause sensitively
  • Avoiding a claim being made to an employment tribunal.
